What is a sin?
This is a deliberate, intentional offense against God’s holy law. Must be confessed to an ordained priest during the Sacrament of Penance.

What is absolution?
the act or prayer by which the priest, in the name of Christ and with Church Authority, forgives our sins

What is temptation?
This is an enticement to commit sin; happens in three ways: by the world (TV), by the flesh (over-eating), and by the devil (weak will, friends’ influence).

What is the confessional?
the place where the Sacrament of Penance is conferred/celebrated.

What is mortal sin?
This offense; MUST be 1. Seriously wrong, 2. KNOWN to be seriously wrong, and 3. Must be done freely

What is confession?
telling of one’s sins to a priest or God

What is conscience?
That part of our intellect that helps us decide right from wrong.

What is moral code?
how we act in any given situation based on our values/principles

What is penance?
The practice of self-denial through such acts as fasting, giving to the poor, spending extra time in prayer; purpose is to make up for sinning.

say two lines from this prayer in which we are sorry for our sins and proclaim our intention to do penance and sin no more
