What is a secondary search?
This is a thorough and thoughtful search of a structure that should be completed on every fireground. Ideally, this search should be completed by a crew other than the crew that completed the primary.

This is done when assigned to a shift or following a run. This should ensure proper; fill pressure, operation, battery level, PASS function, & low air alarm function.

This should be used on every search where fire conditions are expected. When performing a search without this, a rope bag should be used to maintain orientation.
