Evolution is the change in the characteristics of a species over several generations and relies on the process of natural selection.

Evolution is not a random process. The genetic variation on which natural selection acts may occur randomly, but natural selection itself is not random at all.

Organisms' genes mutate and/or recombine in different ways during reproduction and are passed on to future generations.

The fossil record certainly has gaps, mostly because the conditions required to create fossils have been rare ever since life began on Earth.

A scientific theory stands until proven wrong, it is never proven correct.
