What is Sunday Evening, one week prior to the start date of your class?
This is the day that all lesson plans and material requests must be submitted to the Admin Coordinator by.

What is get signed in or out on sign out sheet.
Everyday this must happen at drop off and before a student is released or dismissed to aftercare.

What is lightning?
If this comes within 5 miles of a Thorne camp, campers will be moved indoors.

What is Thorne T-Shirt and Thorne name tag?
On the first day of class please wear these two items.

What is Education Team members?
These people will never be alone in an enclosed space with a Participant, including sleeping in a tent or in a bathroom.

What is Friday of the week you teach?
This is the day that all Timesheets, reimbursements, and all student paperwork must be turned in.

What is the “Parent/Guardian Release Form.”? You are responsible for knowing who is listed on this page.
Thorne Participants will only be released to those individuals listed on this paper.

What is extreme heat?
If this type of weather occurs, instructors keep students in the shade or in the water as much as possible to keep students cool, and also take regular water breaks to keep students hydrated. Instructors also carry a misting bottle of water to cool stude

What is 8:00 am?
Show up at Boulder High or the Kassler Center by this time.

What is flora?
Participants, Teaching Assistants, and Education Team Members will not ingest any of this during a Thorne “Camp Experience”.

What is parent phone call?
After recieveing your class list you are required to do this to open up the door of communication between you and the parents.

What is the Thigh? This needs to be strictly enforced.
Participants will not swim or enter water above this level.

What is a head count?
Should it be discovered that a Participant is missing from the group, do not send the group out to search for the missing Participant. The group should remain together at all times.
Instructors should perform this every 15 minutes. By doing this we can help prevent a missing person.

What is with a smile and direct eye contact?
Greet each parent and child every morning and afternoon by name and with these two things.

What is Parents and Thorne’s Program Director must sign and a letter of acknowledgement?
Prior to any Education Team member communicating with or doing activities with a Participant outside of Thorne Summer Camp this must happen.

What is a First Aid Kit? (provided by Thorne)
This is a "must carry" everyday. Make sure you re-stock and clean it every Friday so it is ready to use the next week.

What are shoes?
Participants, Teaching Assistants, and Education Team Members will wear these at all times during the Thorne program hours, except when sleeping during overnight courses.

What are:
1. Treat the Participant/TA and/or deal with the incident. 2. Record the incident in the “Emergency/Incident Report” and file with the Program Director and talk to Guardian at pick-up. 3. Replace medical supplies in first aid kit if needed.
In the event of a minor incident (an incident treatable by the Instructor without assistance), the Instructor will follow these 3 steps.

What is Field Coordinator or Director?
If you discover that a child has left at the end of the day and is not signed out, please notify this person immediately so we can be sure the child is with the correct guardian.

What is the person with the highest level of medical training?
For all medical emergencies, it is advised that this individual assume the role of primary care giver.

What are a radio and cell phone?
You must carry these two communication items every day. Be sure they are charged and loud enough to hear at all times.

What is emergency/incident report ?
This needs to be done as soon as reasonably possible after the emergency/incident and before Participant involved in the emergency/incident leaves for the day. All emergencies/incidents will be reported to parent/gua
Emergencies and Incidents occurring while participants are in the care of Thorne require Instructors to file this.

What is refrain from comment, refer the individual(s) to Thorne’s Executive Director or Chief Spokesperson, and attempt to ensure that the media do not have access to the TA and/or Participants?
Should outside parties approach an Education Team Member for information regarding an emergency or incident, team members should do these 3 things.

What are snack and lunch? Remind students not to eat their entire lunch at snack time (they will).
Have a time each day when you stop for these two things and try to space these out enough that students never get too hungry (10:30 and 12:30 for example).

What is $4.00/per student
If Thorne doesn’t have the supplies you need, you can buy them yourself and be reimbursed up to this dollar amount.
