What is mitosis?
Cells dividing into two new cells; the usual process of cell reproduction.
What is Epithelial tissue?
The protective tissue covering on body surfaces. Examples are skin, mucous membranes, the lining of the heart, digestive and respiratory organs.
What is the nervous system?
This body system carries messages to and from the brain and controls and coordinates all bodily functions.
What is 22?
The number of bones in the skull, which includes the facial bones as well as the cranial bones.
What is the mandible?
The largest and strongest bone of the face.
What is protoplasm?
A colorless, jellylike substance in which food elements such as proteins, fats, carbohydrates, mineral salts, and water are present.
What is Connective tissue?
This type of tissue supports, protects, and binds together other tissues of the body. Examples are bone, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, and fascia.
What is the Lymphatic/Immune system?
This system protects the body from diseases by developing immunities and destroying disease-causing toxins and bacteria.
What is 8?
The number of bones in the cranium.
What is zygomatic bone?
This bone is also known as the cheekbone.
What is the nucleus?
The dense, active protoplasm found in the center of the cell. It plays an important part in cell reproduction and metabolism.
What is muscular tissue?
This type of tissue contracts and moves the various parts of the body.
What is the Excretory system?
This body system purifies the body by elimination of waste matter; consists of kidneys, liver, skin, intestines, and lungs.
What is the occipital bone?
The hindmost bone of the skull that forms the back of the skull a above the nape.
What are palatine bones?
These bones form the roof of the mouth.
What is cytoplasm?
All the protoplasm of the cell except that found in the nucleus.
What is nerve tissue?
This type of tissue carries messages to and from the brain and controls and coordinates all bodily functions.
What is the Integumentary system?
This body system serves as a protective covering for the body and helps with temperature regulation; consists of the skin, accessory organs such as oil and sweat glands, sensory receptors, hair and nails.
What is the ethmoid bone?
This one is the light, spongy bone between the eye sockets that forms part of the nasal cavity.
What are maxillary bones?
These two bones form the upper jaw.
What is cell membrane?
Part of the cell that encloses the protoplasm and permits soluble substances to enter and leave.
What is adipose tissue?
This type of tissue gives smoothness and contour to the body.
What is the Endocrine system?
This body system affects growth, development, sexual activities, and health of the body; consists of specialized glands.
What is the sphenoid bone?
This bone joins all of the bones of the cranium together.
What are turbinal bones?
These two bones are thin layers of spongy bone found on either of the outer walls of the nasal depression.
What is the hyoid bone?
