---|---|---|---|---|
What is a circular grid?
A graph to determine location, using three or four rings and marking lines at 45 or 30 degrees intervals.
What is a line of symmetry?
A line in which a certain shape is folded into two matching halves.
What is a regular polygon?
A polygon in which the sides all have the same length and all the angles have the same measure.
What are complementary angles?
A name for two angles that add up to a right angle.
What is a transversal?
A line intersecting another two or more lines.
What are coordinates?
A synonym for location, but more precise; often associated with graphs.
What is rotation symmetry?
A type of symmetry in which the certain shape is turned less than a full turn, and still looks the same.
What is tiling?
A number of shapes forming together to fill a flat surface, with no gaps or overlaps.
What is an angle ruler?
A device with two mobile arms and a rivet connecting them, used for measuring angles.
What are parallel lines?
Two lines in the same plane that will never intersect when fully intersected.
What are vertical angles?
Angles directly opposite each other when two lines intersect.
What is reflection symmetry?
A type of symmetry in which the certain shape is folded over a line of symmetry to be formed into two equal halves.
What is a square?
This shape is a quadrilateral, as well as a regular polygon, and is one of the few shapes that can tile a flat surface evenly.
What is a goniometer?
The other, big name for an angle ruler. (Hint: It starts with the letter "g")
What are corresponding angles?
Angles in the relative same position when two lines are intersected by a transversal.
What is the measure of an angle?
The amount one of the sides of an angle has turned to make the angle; often measured in degrees.
What is a rhombus?
The only quadrilateral with at least two lines of symmetry and two pairs of parallel sides.
What is an equilateral triangle?
The regular polygon that can tile a surface evenly with the smallest number of sides.
What are supplementary angles?
Two angles adding up to 180 degrees.
What are alternate interior angles?
Angles across each other from the transversal, and inside of the parallel lines.
What are opposite angles?
Angles directly opposite each other in a polygon.
What is a square?
Congrats! You win a DAILY DOUBLE!!! Here is the answer: The only quadrilateral with two pairs of parallel sides and four lines of symmetry.
What is a regular hexagon?
The regular polygon that can tile a surface evenly with the largest number of sides.
What is a 110 degree angle?
The angle drawn on the board.
What are corresponding and alternate interior angles?
Between vertical, alternate interior, and corresponding angles, choose those that are equal ONLY when parallel.
