What is things to do before you fuel
- dock the boat and ask all passengers to exit

What is the "stand-on" vessel and the "give-way" vessel
There are two terms that help when encountering another boat. One of these will continue on their rout and the other vessel will adjust to the first's. What are these terms.

Red is right
Green is left
Red colors, red light, and even numbers indicate one side of the channel and green color, green lights, and odd numbers indicate the other. Which is which.
|
What is have everyone sit on the floor
If caught in a large storm, do this to make your vessel more stable.
|
What is the reserve switch
turn this switch on if you run out of gas while underway, this will allow you to return to shore
|
What is a pre-departure checklist
- check weather
- check steering and throttle controls - check for fuel and oil leaks - drain all water from engine compartment -fully charged engine battery - correct number of PFDs - leave a float plan |

What is a white with red on top buoy.
White buoys with either red or black on top of them tell you directions. If heading east or west you go south of this buoy, and if going north or south, you go west of this buoy. Is this buoy white with black, or white with red?
