What do you do if a Family member has questions about Alzheimer's?
Give them resources other families, Alz Assoc support groups.
What is used for small cuts in the elderly?
What can issue requires phone calls vs Text vs emails?
Emergency vs routine items (ie schedules, time clock)
What if the power goes out?
Use Flashlights and Call Xcel in ECP
What if there is a call off or important issue.
Call Assistant Mng or Mng right away or text.
What if a Family members wants to help with caregiving tasks?
Help direct them to other things like activities and conversations not the ADL
Resident has behaviors?
Redirect, redirect and again.
Should we document everything?
Report in ECP
What if the fire alarm goes off?
Check all residents, allow Fire Dept to come
What if there is a potential resident visit by a family?
Take name, number and any other information, offer coffee and tour. Then send information to Malou asap.
What if the Family insisting on help right now....ex: come and shower dad right now?
Ask them to wait a moment and include a lead or mng if they are insistent
Resident or building emergency?
Call 911
List resources to help you find solutions?
Other Staff, vendors, Google search
What if the toilet is overflowing?
Turn water off behind the toilet.
How do we welcome a new employee?
Show and share and offer assistance with any questions.
What are Dementia behaviors?
Undressing, Sundowning
What if a resident does to want to take a shower?
Allow them not to, then try again for hygiene
What if the State Surveyor comes to the house?
Offer coffee, call administrator
What if the power is out for a while and it is cold?
Start Generator, use Training instructions.
What is your cell phone etiquette during work?
Only use for work needs, schedules, clock, google search for work items.
What if Family members that want to volunteer in an inappropriate way. ex: cleaning the main baths
Share how they can help but that our caregivers job is to do the work in the home.
What if resident is threatening others?
Redirect and call Mng to help immediately.
What if a caregiver is mistreating a resident?
Immediate call to Mng and Administrator
What if appliance stops working properly?
Call your Lead or Mng to arrange repair.
What is the employee of the quarter?
Someone that shows the majority of the company competencies on a consistent basis.
